Men don’t ask for directions

Hebrews 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

“Men don’t ask for directions.” One of the silly notions floating around about men is that we don’t need any help. I know that personally I’d rather walk around Home Depot for 30 minutes trying to find something than ask for help. I’ve come to learn though that some of the toughest men on the planet, Navy SEALs, are the way they are because they ask for help. We can also humble ourselves enough to approach God for help, as we can see clearly in the book of Hebrews.

After laying the groundwork showing that Jesus can relate to everything we’re facing, the author of Hebrews says we can go before God with confidence and expect to receive His mercy and grace. Many times, the reason why men don’t reach out to other men for help is because we feel like we’re the only one struggling with a particular problem. We take the same approach with God, believing that He can’t possibly relate to what we’re going through. But Jesus did face the same issues we face. he did endure the same temptations. He can relate. We can confidently go before the throne and take our troubles to the Father. He cares and He understands. Don’t keep it in. Take it to God.
